Hmmm...
I turned up a couple of minutes before kick off to assume my role as team photojournalist but was counting team members as i walked towards the pitch, i was only counting to five.
Therefore i had to put the team before personal pain and don Rob's trackky bottoms and a Hull shirt which just felt wrong (maybe it was just that i'm not as svelte as i once was and the shirt left little to the imagination).
Reservoir Trogs were the oppo, a full team of stupidly fit army boys with their own minibus and manager with clipboard. It didn't look good.
I assumed the role of centre half as i wasn't gonna be running anywhere fast. Colin sat alongside me, Dave and Chris G were in midfield, Rob led the line and Luke took hold of the gloves.
We started fairly poorly, didn't get a lot better, i got even more injured contesting a header, lost what mobility i did have and the goals began to flow.
And flow and flow and flow.
These boys were good, and pretty much everything they hit found the corner of our net. We are claiming the best goal of the match, a sweeping move with most of the team playing their part before Rob converted to join Dave and Huggins as top scorer. Scant consolation, but we had to take any positives we could.
It is Deportivo next week, and we are in need of a perfomance and some commitment from team members to boost our ailing morale. Tom, Rob where were you?? Paul (working) and Will (Glasto) are excused this time.
If all that fails we at least need to make sure we have a bit of a sesh in the pub after to drown our sorrows.
Calendar Updated
So we have no excuse for not knowing kick off times.

***Breaking News***
Key member attracted away by the bright lights of York
***Breaking News***

Alex Howland, who has played for us since the very beginning, has hung up his Notvery shirt. The good news is he may be playing for a team in York, which means some friendlies may be in the offing. Hurrah!
So many thanks to Alex for all the effort he has put in, make sure you keep practicing those pirouettes!

Pics from AJ's v Notvery and tiny match report
Hey Will,
A Few Points:
Good Defending- great blocks & tackling
All 3 goals from long balls- no one can head a ball!!
Great passing performance
Too much passing not enough shooting!!
Dave not hitting the target from 4 yards out and me shanking the ball ten feet past the post!!
Hope this helps- by the way great photo and video coverage on the site love
it!
Rob
Second up some pics:
third up, some videos:
Fourth up the Report:
Unfortunately we again had a depleted squad for a number of reasons. Chris H with a broken/bruised rib after a high velocity encounter with a rather large gentleman in last weeks match, Alex H was having far too much fun at work to join us and Colin had something else to do.So up went the bat signal for Rob K to help us out for the second week on the trot, and help us out he did. Rob G has also returned to us on a 1 season loan from the pubs of Manchester.
Final score 3 - 0 to AJ's.
We played well but got beat, better than last week, ok till fatigue set in. Same old, same old. You get the idea. I think I'll let Chris H's excellent work above tell the picture, with pictures.
Additional:
thankyou to all who have paid up already. Every person that has played have paid their fees, good stuff guys.

next season's Dosh requirement

Here is the squad for the second half of the season:
Main squad:
Chris H (Coach)
Chris G
Colin H
Paul B
Dave B
Rob G
Tom M
Will C
RoB K
Pay as you play:
Luke H
Cost for the season is £20 per match plus £20 for the end of season cup, £240 in total. Therefore the nine main squad players owe me £26 for the season (£234 in total) with the rest being topped up by the 'pay as you play' squad members at £2 a game.
If you could have your fees ready for the game tomorrow it would be great, basically because it makes my life easier!
Last person to pay books a place in goal!
If you do not wish to play next season and are in the squad please let me know.
Cheers,
Will

(Apparently not the) Final game of the Season

I asked them how it went but all they would say is:
"You wouldn't understand man, you weren't there"
A bit of patience is all that is required Bill...
A seriously understrength WMPS FC contested the final game of the first half of the season. Due to work commitments we lost four regulars (Bill, Colin, Paul & Chris G)as well as Tom's rubbish excuse of "I forgot, i'm going out for a meal...sorry". So this weeks lineup included a couple ringers, Steve and Rob, who did the shirt proud, alongside myself, Alex and Dave this still left us a man short but we battled on anyway.
I took my place between the sticks for the first half. The game kicked off and it turned out they were fairly rubbish too so we were on top from the start, Rob adding some muscle and knowhow as well as the odd stepover up front and Steve contributing some assured defending. Chances came and went at both ends before, following a decent save (if i do say so myself), I heard a shout from Dave and punted the ball upfield... Dave took it down 'majestically' (his word not mine) turning the defender in one movement and found himself through on goal, taking it on his left foot the keeper was beaten and we had the lead.
More half chances at both ends and it was half time and Alex took up goalkeeping duties for the second half.
Tiredness began to kick in as we pushed forward for a second goal (that never came) and were picked off on the break a couple of times by the oppo. A renewed focus saw us step it up a little and I hit the bar and post before Dave was denied by a wonder save.
The game ended 1-3 and we trudged off pleased with our efforts and safe in the knowledge that the extra man was all that stood between us and another victory.
A good few pints later we were joined by the gaffer for a debrief in The Cross Keys and a fullsome drinking session ensued.
Ignore Bill's title of this story, that was not the final game of the season, it was only the half way point and we continue next week. I have the new fixture list but forgot to bring it in today so will post tomorrow.
Only fair to point out that Dave's goal brings him level with his arch enemy Mike Huggins in the race for the yellow boot.

I am now the only ever present which as Dave pointed out makes my goal return now easily the worst of any squad member. In my defence it must be said that my two stints in goal have however resulted in clean sheets (that is not me volunteering though).
